What does marine insurance cover?

Is marine insurance only for sea shipments?
No. Despite the name, marine cargo insurance also covers air shipments and the connected road legs, depending on the policy.
Is the shipping line or airline not liable for my cargo?
Carrier liability is limited by international conventions and is usually far below the cargo value, which is why separate cargo insurance is recommended.
